If you’re new to the Churches of Christ—or simply curious about the China Grove Church of Christ—here is who we are in plain terms.
At China Grove Church of Christ, our theme is simple and deliberate: Connect + Disciple + Serve. That shapes everything we do.
We are not organized around social clubs, sports leagues, or entertainment. You will not find a gym, commercial kitchen, or party room in our building. You will find a place for worship, Bible study, prayer, and meaningful spiritual relationships. We want to know you not as a name on a list, but as a person made in the image of God with a soul of eternal value.
We are also not a civic club, political organization, or generic community center. Although our members are involved in many areas of community life, the church itself has a distinct purpose: to help people follow Jesus Christ. That means opening the Scriptures together, answering honest questions, and encouraging one another toward faith, obedience, and love.
The church Jesus established fills a role no human institution can replace. Many organizations do real good by addressing physical and social needs, and we are grateful for that. But the Lord’s church has a different primary mission. Its first responsibility is to nourish the soul with the teaching of Christ (John 6:26–35).
The New Testament teaches that the church exists to proclaim the wisdom of God and carry out His eternal purpose in Christ (Ephesians 3:10–11). That is why we take the church seriously. Jesus purchased it with His own blood (Acts 20:28), and it must never be reduced to a social outlet or activity hub.
In every generation, people are tempted to reshape the church according to current cultural expectations. We believe humanity’s deepest need has not changed: to fear God, keep His commandments, and prepare for eternity (Ecclesiastes 12:13–14). Many institutions can help with temporary concerns. The church is uniquely designed to care for the soul and help people find their way back to God.
